About the Juror: Glen Knowles
"I have never had the opportunity to judge such a large group of highly accomplished and professional quality watercolor paintings. There were 50 other paintings that absolutely deserved inclusion and would have made the show stronger, broader and more exciting. Your members are truly an amazing group of creative artists! Thank you for giving me this opportunity."
- Glen Knowles
Glen Knowles became a watercolor painter upon viewing Gunnar Widforss' paintings at Yosemite's Ahwahnee Hotel over thirty years ago. He went on to study watercolor with Rex Brandt, Robert E Wood, and Milford Zornes. He is the inventor of the ColorWheel watercolor palette, distributed by Speedball Corporation across America and around the world. Glen has taught watercolor for thirty years at Antelope Valley College. He has curated five shows on the history of California watercolor including the 2010 show Painting World War II, The California Style Watercolor Artists for the Oceanside Museum of Art, California Watercolor, the Post War Years and retrospectives on Milford Zornes and the early California modernists and, later, nonobjective artist Nicholas Brigante.
