About the Juror: Marciano Martinez

"I find it very difficult to choose among so many wonderful subjects, and put together a balanced show. My choices show my desire to find some of those paintings that hint at the quest we all experience, a quest to become our own muses, and find our creative, free thinking, fresh child within. This is an important part of our artistic growth, a unique part of us that we can share with the world around us, reflecting it back as it reflects us, each in its turn. Some of those reflections are photo-real in style, others abstract, or non objective and each style has strength and substance. As an art professor, it has been my joy to work with many other artists, and my goal has always been to assist each person in finding what is unique about their own artistic voice. I have sincerely tried to include a wide range of unique personal perspectives on the world, as I feel sure that each artist represented here has something very special to share."
- Marciano Martinez

Mr. Martinez has been an art professor at Fullerton College for the past 40 years. He has been exhibiting his art throughout his career and traveled the world for inspiration. He received an art scholarship from Millard Sheets to study at LA County Art Institure, then earned a BA of Arts in Education from the College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, CA, and a MFA from Claremont Graduate University. He has studied watercolor with Milford Zornes, Millard Sheets, George Post, Phil Dike, Robert E. Wood, and Rex Brandt.

Submission Requirements

In progress

“A show does not just happen. People have to receive [images], then paintings from all over the world. People have to do the paperwork and support the jurors throughout the process. People have to work with the venue, produce a prospectus, an announcement and a catalog. All of us need to thank these folks who are dedicated supporters of the National Watercolor Society!”
Chris Van Winkle
